“Is it up time?” That’s what 5:50 am brings to me. Anyone else have an early riser?
We’ve decided to put a clock in his room and told him he can’t get out of bed until 6:30. Sometimes I’m so out of it when he comes to talk to me that I mumble nonsense. You know the kind where you’re half asleep/half awake. It often goes like, “Why don’t you just ride the dump truck to school?” or “The ball is in the basement with the bottle.” Just random. To which a 7-year-old gets really confused and wakes you up more by saying, “what are you talking about, mom?”
I don’t know. I don’t know. Just go back to bed, please!
So we’ll see how the clock works for us. At least I can say that one of us wakes up seizing the day!
At least he knows how to get his own bowl of cereal – something we taught him early on. I love that the 2 older kids can get their own breakfast and even help my 2-year-old (if he’s awake). They are good kids.
Anyway, let’s move on.
I’m not a cereal person. I can munch on some dry cereal, but that’s not very satisfying, filling, or healthy. I have a couple things that I do like, these almond butter banana muffins being one of them. I often have to grab breakfast on the run, if I get it. And these are easily transported and get you going.
Since changing our diet, I love nut butters. They are filling, have lots of fiber and protein, and almost have a hint of sweetness. Combine that with bananas and you have a winning combo. Sometimes I’ll skip the muffin and just have the banana with almond butter spread down the length. So good. My favorite nut butters are the freshly ground ones from WinCo. They have large machines in their bulk section filled with roasted peanuts and roasted almonds, no salt added. Best kept secret ever. I discovered them about 2 months ago and haven’t looked back.
What’s your favorite nut butter and what’s your favorite use for it?
